It is not attached, if I may object.

And unfortunately, I will not have time to try it out. Note that since
mathed is already the world of nested boxen, people will certainly not
object to a few more. For text, it is different. Moreover, we would
need insets which can spread on several lines inside a paragraph, and
we do not have that.

Yes, but you add complexity somewhere else, so it is not really
relevant to this particular problem.
