That statement does not make sense, are you telling us that each of
the 22 small documents takes long to load into LyX?

I.e. you load the master document and then right click onto the link
of a sub document and then click on Edit?

Or do you mean making a PDF?

I would very strongly agree with Jean-Marc to send *HIM*, ie the LyX
authors the whole document(s) so they can see what the cause is.

I also would strongly suggest you upgrade your Windoze to 10 if you
can't switch to a proper computer like a Mac or a Linux box.
