Hi Marcus and Scott

AHA!

If I start by setting the cursor at the beginning of the Section head, and
select text until the end of the section, the section is preserved in the
Branch. And the section is kept after I dissolve the Branch.

However, if I start by setting the cursor at the end of the previous line, and
select text until the end of the section, the section disappears/is flattened
out. And even if I insert the section manually, it disappears upon dissolving
the Branch.

Hm... When I *copy* text sections, my experience is that I need to put the
cursor at the end of the previous line and then select text as far as I want -
in order to preserve the section heading (maybe that was only necessary in the
past). If I do that, the section heading is preserved. But that also happens if
I put the cursor at the beginning of the section (did that work in previous
version of LyX, like 2.3?).

In any way, I think it is a little inconsistent compared to copying text that
the section heading disappears when I start by putting the cursor at the end
of the previous line.

But now it seems like Marcus have found the way to do it. So now it works.
(Although I think it would be safer for the user if one could alternatively put
the cursor at the end of the previous line before selecting the expanse of the
text to include - in line with copying the text).

I never noticed this behavior and just tested it (attached: plain article, with
sections and subsections, and standard theorem module): The structure remains
intact. However, within the deactivated Branch the numbering may change
(starting with 1, for instance). If you activate the branch again the correct
numbering is restored.

This also does not happen for me. I use "dissolve inset" often and tested it
today again with a branch that contains a section and a subsection. Both the
section and the subsection headings remained section and subsection headings.

I tested with LyX 2.4.4 on macOS
