I hope I test your advice in the right way. I changed the line \chaptermark{#1}% to \let\chaptermark##1\empty That didn't work. No I have one "1" on every chapter start page. Then I changed the line to \def\chaptermark#1{}% That didn't work too. Now I have on every page the name of the first chapter.
At last I found a little problem with your first "trick". Every chapter that haven't a number (chapter*) isn't shown in the header...
