Hi Courtney, I know it doesn't help you, but this went smoothly on my MBP under both SN and Lion.
As I recall I brought my JB into pairing mode by moving the power switch to the upper most position as you must have also done. I think it worked the same way in SL, but I then went into status menus -> bluetooth -> setup bluetooth device and it immediately located my JB. I assume you're not doing anything differently -- is the Mac not finding your JB? Did you pair previously? If so perhaps you want to delete the phantom device and retry? Best regards.
