I found that the xorg.conf file I had had some ctrl/caps swapping and
disabling in it.  I commented these out and the caps is back to normal
functioning...  This is a little odd because it is a xorg.conf from one of
the mactel sites - probably something to do with personal pref - I don't
use caps on my happyhacker][ but it did throw me on the notebook keyboard
:)
