In any case, my experience (MBP C2D) is that ACPI will freak after a
couple of suspends (both to disk and ram) unless you reset the NVRAM (at
least) now and then. Typically the first sign is that the battery meter
reads all zeros. Alas, when you reset the NVRAM, the chime comes back,
so you need to go into MacOSX to turn it down again... Basically, with
suspend-to-ram, it is pointless because it only happens at the very
first boot, and with suspend2disk it is pointless because in order to
have (semi-) reliable resume, you must reset NVRAM every time.
Anyone else experinceing this? I'm on 2.6.22-rc5-mactel, but it's been
like this on every kernel I've tried and the same effect on both MBP C2D
I've had. (Only tried a C1D for a short time, but it seemed ok then).
BTW: My fans just about always start of at ~2000 at boot or resume, but
quickly climb to 4500-4900 even when just browsing/mailing with both
CPUs at OnDemand, as in mostly at 42% (1GHz). Typical battery life is
1-1.5 hour at best. I usually work plugged in so I can live with the
battery life, but the fans sure are annoying.
