I'm a bit confused... so you're trying to launch elilo from rEFIT, right? From what I've gathered Elilo is an EFI bootloader, just like rEFIT. You can boot Linux with Elilo without ever even touching rEFIT. I don't know if you can boot MacOS X from within Elilo, probably not. You can also make rEFIT launch another (MBR/BIOS) bootloader, like Lilo or Grub. This is what I do. If BIOS emulation is not available, using Elilo is the only choice, unless rEFIT can be made to boot Linux directly. I haven't heard of anyone booting Linux directly from rEFIT.
