All I know for sure is that rating an Ogg file with Canola corrupts
the Ogg file. But when I write-protect the file, Canola still
lets me rate it. So maybe Canola stores the rating in its DB and
if possible writes an ID3 tag. Maybe somebody from the Canola
team can shed some light on it. :)

Ouch! You guys really want ogg, don't you? :-)

Yes, we do store info on files using id3v2 standard. If files don't
provide this, we add, otherwise we just update. Using the id3lib,
provided by maemo platform and considered one of the best libs on this
area.

We plan to provide ogg and even pluggable media formats, but it didn't
made in this beta and I don't know if it will be in the next, but it
will be available in future.
