I have been successful using the esd API on the 770. I would be
interested in finding a way to get lower latency though, but I fear it
is not possible, as the esd sound deamon is started hardcoded and I
don't want to program against a changed root system.
So, basic esd works. The other option I read is via GStreamer, but I
haven't tried that.
I've had this issue with esd as well. For raw audio (no decoding),
gstreamer (subjectively) gives even higher latency than esd for me.
