You won't be able to swap cards to e.g. listen to a different music
collection, unless you're willing to specifically prepare a pair of SD
cards for every use, and get that to work on your PC's card reader as
well, if you have one.

Yes, I'd accept that limitation as I don't plan on swapping cards that often.

Once the filesystem is spanned across both cards it probably means that 
updating the cards with a card reader is nigh on impossible, this may actually 
be a bigger problem as transferring files to the N800 over WiFi will be very 
slow (~300KB/s). Perhaps it will be possible to access the spanned filesystem 
from a PC when connecting the N800 over USB? Or I suppose rsync could be used 
and left running overnight :)
