Of course that's an option, if the list is archived (may not be), but pretty clearly the subscribers in this case at least want a "push" notification (ack in their inbox), and most likely to get the mail in the usual way. Similarly, if they just want to be reminded of the content, they can go to the Sent folder. Again, the tone of the OP and the link he provided strongly suggests that's not the issue. I hate having to say "the requested change is non-RFC-conforming, and there are good reasons for the rule", but that's the way this one rolls. Even so, it's important to think carefully about what the issue is really talking about rather than just looking for a minimum change path. (Minimizing changes is also a goal, for various reasons.)
