I was hugely touched today to discover a bunch of flowers on the
doorstep with a note:

"Just a little something from the Mapbuilder Developer Community. Get
well soon!"

It was totally unexpected and lifted my spirits greatly.

Thankyou all.

I spent today sitting around in queues for various doctors and eye
specialists. Plastics doctors who told me which bits of my face there
are going to straighten - I've organised to get special pointy elf ears
cause I've always wanted them.
And then my eyes have been looked at hundreds of different way so that
we can attribute blame correctly if anything goes wrong during the
surgery. (Sure glad we don't have to go through that for software).

I haven't got a definite date for surgery yet, currently looking like it
will be in 2 days time.

Sounds like I'm going to have my jaw wired shut for 2 weeks, which makes
me thankful that I can type fast, and my wife is dusting off all our old
soup recipes.
