Hi list,

I often wonder what currently is the added value of Mapbuilder over
OpenLayers.

As I see it, the gap between Mapbuilder and OpenLayers is quickly
getting smaller and smaller. Soon OpenLayers will have WMC and OWS
Context read/write support, previous and next extent controls, a
distance measuring control, Tim's css-based scalebar. The overview map
is already there for a while. Add to this Andreas excellent work on SLD
and styles in OL. Also, it is very easy using something like ExtJS to
add a fancy layer manager with drag and drop, like e.g. MapFish is
doing. ExtJS also makes it easy to create fancy toolbars or menus using
OL's map controls.

So I am interested to hear what the developers of Mapbuilder see as the
added value of Mapbuilder?

Best regards,
Bart
