On Windows, we source Apache server binaries from www.apachelounge.com so I imagine a way to update binaries out-of-band would be to get the latest 2.4.x release, extract to your MG web tier install, overwriting everything except your httpd.conf and preserve your existing mod_mgmapagent.so. On Linux, I can't see anything that doesn't involve re-compiling MapGuide against the latest 2.4.x httpd tarball
