Hi, I am trying to see if I can use mapnik to create 3D effects while rendering the map. I am trying to render map of a small area like a university campus. It works if I use google projection but the map does not look that impressive! I have done some search on google but did not find anything definite. I am looking for pointers in this direction.
1) Is there some projection I can use to get Bird’s eye view, using the DEM data available from public sources. Idea being if a road is going through some hilly region, it gives some 3d effect 2) Are there any other tools that folks here would recommend to achieve this effect? May be there are some other awsome tools I can use along with Mapnik to achieve this. 3) May be there are some tools that can create the 3D background using DEM data that I can put as a raster background in mapnik.
