A couple comments on this tendentious article: 1. Their claim that William Robinson doesn't believe US imperialism exists is a lie; see http://www.truth-out.org/opinion/item/25141-prof-william-i-robinson-global-capitalism-is-in-the-midst-of-its-most-severe-crisis 2. Co-author Chuck Kaufman's group just published a bizarre piece by James Jordan in which he (correctly) criticizes liberals in the climate change movement - but then declares the whole problem is about control of oil, and that's why Washington went to war against Assad (sic). https://afgj.org/nothing-to-do-nowhere-to-go-nothing-to-say-how-the-broad-climate-movement-has-failed-us 3. The authors cite Marta Harnecker's latest MR piece approvingly. This is telling, as Harnecker is just updating her usual fawning support for left-populist governments, asking such governments to listen a little more to social movements, and telling leftists who want to attack the ruling class to adopt a "pedagogy of limitations" instead. http://monthlyreview.org/2016/01/01/social-movements-and-progressive-governments/ On Wed, Jan 20, 2016 at 9:04 AM, Louis Proyect via Marxism < marxism@lists.csbs.utah.edu> wrote: > ******************** POSTING RULES & NOTES ******************** > #1 YOU MUST clip all extraneous text when replying to a message. > #2 This mail-list, like most, is publicly & permanently archived. > #3 Subscribe and post under an alias if #2 is a concern. > ***************************************************************** > > This article describes critics of Maduro as rats jumping off a sinking > ship (that is not really sinking.)
