from *Robin Yassin-Kassab <https://www.facebook.com/robin.yassinkassab?fref=nf> on Facebook -* I'm sorry to report that I've found a better book on Syria than our Burning Country. It's Wendy Pearlman <https://www.facebook.com/wendy.pearlman.5?fref=mentions>'s "We Crossed a Bridge and it Trembled" - the most important book about the Syrian revolution and counter-revolutions you will read. Pearlman does something incredible - the whole story is told, with all the context and information you'd expect from an excellent analysis - but it's told entirely through the mouths of her Syrian informants, hundreds of them, from all social backgrounds, who Pearlman interviewed in Arabic. This is the perfect antidote to the arrogant, fantasy-commentary by white-men-who-don't-speak-Arabic that is often taken as expert witness by the West. I'll be reviewing the book. But right now I urge everyone to pre-order a copy. _________________________________________________________ Full posting guidelines at: http://www.marxmail.org/sub.htm Set your options at: http://lists.csbs.utah.edu/options/marxism/archive%40mail-archive.com
