A few years before my mother went into a nursing home in 2007, she sold her house to me for $1 on the advice of her lawyer. This was a gimmick used by millions of Americans to ensure that she was eligible for medicaid rather than medicare. If she was on medicare, she would have been forced to sell her house and use the proceeds to pay for the nursing home. Trump is now targeting oldsters who either took advantage of a loophole like my late mom or those who were penniless to start with. In any case, millions of Americans will be up in arms since the cost of nursing homes is so prohibitive. Just to give you an idea, my wife's professor at Iona told his class that he was going down to visit his brother who is in a nursing home in West Virginia. The professor, who is a Trump supporter, said it cost $8500 per month--hardly concealing his disgust over the exorbitance.
