What's really grotesque about this article is Cockburn relying on the word of one Saleem Mohammed, a resident of the Nabi Yunus district in east Mosul, who backs up the claim that ISIS fighters are paying bribes to go free. How did Cockburn track down this man? Did he go off on a stroll in "liberated" Mosul talking to people in Arabic until he bumped into Saleem Mohammed? Isn't it obvious that an embedded journalist like Cockburn was introduced to this informant by the Iraqi military itself? How do people take this asshole seriously at this point?
