At various times, some people have insisted that Turkey has become a sub-imperialist power (Chris Slee/GLW and the Apoists among them). I think the present economic turmoil in Turkey demonstrates once more that this is and always has been nonsense. We have elaborated some facts and arguments on this issue in a book published in 2013 (chapter 9, p.224-227,https://www.thecommunists.net/theory/great-robbery-of-the-south/ <https://www.thecommunists.net/theory/great-robbery-of-the-south/> ) and another published in 2018 (chapter V, p.74-76,https://www.thecommunists.net/theory/world-perspectives-2018/ <https://www.thecommunists.net/theory/world-perspectives-2018/>) We are discussing with a group of Turkish leftists who also upheld the sub-imperialism thesis in the past. They have now rightly concluded that this was a mistake.
