Hugo Chavez, as brilliant and charismatic as he was, made the decisions to mortgage Venezuela's future oil revenues to China at market prices, and he used the money he received from the loans to subsidize his friends, most of whom are long gone (The Kirchners, Lula). Maduro reaped the consequences, but chose to fight to stay in power no matter what the consequences. Stalinism, and its children, are still the syphilis of the workers movement. Fools gold, is not gold. Generations will suffer from these "mistakes".
