Aha!  From the man page for mathopd.conf:

>  InputBufSize
>               o Where:   Tuning
>               o Type:    Integer
>               o Default: 2048

This ties up with some entries in my logs showing that a couple of kids
have been sending long requests to try to overflow the URL and Referrer
fields, presumably on the assumption that I was running IIS.
