Yup, SAX events would suffer the same cyclical problem as domify - which is why something like Betwixt is necessary to exclude the paths that have the cycles. At the moment, Domify isn't that smart because we expected XSLT processors to be intelligent about how they navigate the DOM. Xalan 2.1 was, but more recent versions aren't :-( A quick solution to the cycle problem might be to switch to Xalan 2.1. A more satisfying solution would be to replace Domify with a betwixt-based "Saxify". Still pretty easy to build, but probably not a couple hours work, unfortunately.
