I just downloaded Resin 2.1.5, copied log4j.jar into resin/lib, friendbook-jsp.war into resin/webapps, and it worked.
The only problem was that there was bug in the edit.jsp page which has now been corrected in CVS. The rest of the application worked though. Note that you shouldn't copy files into WEB-INF/lib yourself; the WAR will automatically be expanded there. If you want to make jars available to your webapp, either package them in the WAR or put them in the appserver's /lib.
