The valve on the side of the IP is the transmission vacuum valve, the black line is the vacuum bleed line, its supposed to be open.

Howdy -
While familarizing myself with my new 300D I discovered what appears to be an open vacuum line. It's black and starts on what I believe is the fuel shut-off valve on the side of the IP. The black tube starts on the side of the mechanism and stops near the brake vacuum assist, just short of going thru the firewall. There doesn;t appear to be *any* place for the vac line to attach.

Also, there are 3 other vac tubes coming out if the firewall that eventually go to the top of the same (engine shut-off valve)mechanism. The engine stops instantly when the key is turned so the shut-off valve seems to work perfectly.

Time to search the manuals --
