Given that Arlit is already assigned, it is safe to assume a different name
will be given, time will tell if it looks more like Arlit 002 or NWA _ _ _ _

I thought that the Arlit matietial was listed in the Met Bull as only a 20
GRAM mass. Did I read that incorrectly? Please clarify.
Thanks in advance, Ben Fisler

Thanks Mike and Rob,
This is very interesting as I also bought many kilos of this material
in Tucson. The Arlit write up in the met-bul doesn't mention it as an
Impact melt. Is this the same material?

Thanks Mike, I see that the name Arlit is taken so we'll have to see
when
the NomCom comes up with. I strongly doubt that it is the same material.

Hi Rob
I believe it was classified several years ago. It is arlit pronounced
arleet.

Hello all
One of the true gems of the Tucson Gem and Mineral show was this new
impact
melt from Niger. A stunning grey green swirled exterior, some with metal
warts and teeth popping out of the surface. I was lucky to be one of the
first ones there and had a chance to cherry pick the most interesting
looking ones with the most metal. It is amazing to look at these and
speculate just what was going on during the formation of these, chunks
of
iron embedding themselves in liquid rock. Classification is underway at
ASU
and I'm sure there will be much to say. Feast your eyes...
