Publishers deal with the rights in compositions; labels issue recordings. An album may have more than one publisher; a single recording may appear on more than one label. >As for specifying an Identifier well unfortunately the from the >examples we used [2] there wasnt much evidence of any kind of >Identifier other than the url's themselves. It seems to me that your examples concentrate on sites publishing downloadable or streaming audio files, and that you (or "we", collectively) haven't examined sites publishing descriptions of recordings on CD, vinyl or whatever (which would seem to be covered by both the "problem" statement and the "purpose" on the brainstorming page, and certainly should be within the scope of this microformat). Once you do, you'll find plenty of examples of catalogue numbers being published. For example: <http://www.jazzdisco.org/miles/dis/c/> <http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/PFArchives/DUKLP.htm> <http://www.naxos.com/catalogue/item.asp?item_code=8.553406> We should also be careful to distinguish /types/ of identifier (catalogue number, UID, ISBN, Amazon-ASIN, etc.) -- Andy Mabbett _______________________________________________ microformats-new mailing list microformats-new@microformats.org http://microformats.org/mailman/listinfo/microformats-new
