This bill, SB 308, is authored by State Senator Brian Nieves. This bill essentially addresses the fact that there are hundreds of court cases on the books (nationally) in which foreign laws and foreign legal doctrines are invoked by parties to a dispute. In many cases those foreign laws and foreign legal doctrines are anathema to our constitutional ideals. This bill will clarify the situation and make sure the Missouri State Constitution and U.S. Constitution prevail. Brigitte Gabriel and our national staff have made the passage of this bill a top priority for the 2011 legislative session. This is a vital step in the overall protection of the nation. This erosion of Constitutional authority must be stopped. ***Action Item *** We need you to urge all the State Senators to support and co-sponsor SB 308. The legislature is very busy right now and is easily distracted by other important issues of the day. Please let them know that this bill is of highest priority to you! This vital bill has passed the House and the Senate Judiciary Committee, but it's in danger of not getting a floor vote in the Senate! It is vital that you email each of the Missouri State Senators (you can do this to all of them in one motion) and ask for their support. Remember, this is where the heavy lifting comes in! One person can make such an incredible difference in important times like these! Please respectfully relay the following sentiments in your own words: Dear Senator, I urge you to support and co-sponsor SB 308 in order to protect the constitutional rights of Missourians from the incursion of foreign laws and foreign legal doctrines.
