All the best, -Fabiano ---------- With the help of IDRC (International Development Research Centre) we are performing a health IT landscape analysis of the Latin American and Caribbean Region. This study will perform an in-dept analyis of 10 representative countries and whose objective is to provide information that current and complementary to other studies performed in this region. The purpose of the study is to allow health authorities, NGOs, and other groups to identify strengths, needs and opportunities in which health IT can improve clinical care and management of the health systems. This study is being coordinated by eHealth Systems from Chile to facilitate the work performed by local researchers in their own country and who will be co-authors of the final report. These local researchers will collect, systematize, and analyze the information for their country using standardized instruments, like interviews with key personnel from Ministries of Health and other institutions, analysis of documentation and local experiences; they will also write a final report to be presented at the IMeCA 2010 conference on Nov. 29. All of this work will be performed in coordination. The local researchers will be paid for their participation. Local researchers will be selected who are: 1. Involved in research or work in eHealth locally to ensure that they are familiar with the local context 2. Have the time to perform the necessary work estimated to be half time for 3 months During the IMeCA meeting (Nov. 29-Dec. 3, www.informaticamedica-lac.org) we will share a preliminary report of each country to receive feedback from the participants and strengthen the study results. Este estudio será un análisis en profundidad en 10 países representativos de la región, cuyo propósito es proporcionar información actualizada y complementaria a otros estudios regionales antes realizados, que permitan a Autoridades de Salud, ONGs y otros grupos, identificar fortalezas, áreas de necesidad y oportunidades en que la informática en salud puede mejorar el cuidado de la salud de las personas y de la gestión de los sistemas de salud en nuestra región. Este estudio será coordinado por eHealth Systems desde Chile para facilitar el trabajo de los investigadores locales que trabajaran en su país y los que serán coautores del reporte final. Los investigadores locales harán la recopilación, sistematización y análisis de la información de sus países usando métodos e instrumentos estandarizados, tales como entrevistas a todos los actores claves de Ministerios de Salud y otras instituciones, análisis de documentación y experiencias locales de interés; además deberá realizar un reporte final para ser presentado en la reunion de IMeCA en Noviembre. Esto se hará en estrecha coordinación con los miembros eHealth Systems. Los investigadores locales serán remunerados por su participación. Los investigadores locales deberan tener los siguientes criterios: 1. Estar involucrado en la investigación y o aplicación de iniciativas del eSalud localmente (para asegurar familiaridad con el contexto y redes locales) 2. Contar con el tiempo adecuado para realizar esta labor (estimado en media jornada por 3 meses) Durante la conferencia de IMeCA (29 Noviembre a 3 Diciembre 2010, www.informaticamedica-lac.org) compartiremos un informe preliminar de cada país, a fin de recibir retroalimentación de los asistentes y fortalecer los resultados del estudio desde distintas perspectivas.
