Hi again boys, didn't realise there was a tee in the hose, I though it was just
a bit of 2.5 inch old pipe like my old Mog. Still a lot of money
though..................

Hi Bob,

The challenge with the pipe on Mogs of the age of mine is the moulded in 1 inch
pipe tee'd off the 2.5 inch main pipe as in the picture attached. If it was a
straight piece of pipe I'd have done the same as you.

Cheers,
Lawrence

I had the pipe from the filler to the tank go in my 62 4/4 and got a length of
suitable hose from a Marine Supply Dealer for a few dollars which has worked
fine,

£80 is just crazy! A friend of a friend with a 2006 roadster had his pipe go
big way, total split, in Italy whilst on holiday, cost him £100 on top of the
cost for next day delivery! Surely a local Samco branch or motorsports
specialist like Demon Tweeks could supply an alternative at a quarter of the
cost ??? Must check mine.....................

I had to get one a couple of years back and £80 inc the dreaded vat rings a
few bells as to my cost, so £80 +vat may be about right! I don't hold much
faith in the pricing on-line, best just not to ask and give the long number
first! (You might be able to secure a discount having helped with the
mis-sized headrests and having saved him a few quid!)

It was the branched item, and Graham (?) at Melvyn's was on the ball
despatching it immediately.

Yes a bit tight to fit. Removing the filler which goes through the panel
makes fitting easier. The new pipe will need cutting to length if it was
like mine, but a 4/4 may have a less tall and hence less commodious tank so
cutting may not be required.

Hi Owen, Bill, Colin,

Thanks for getting back to me about the fuel leak. I've been exploring Uncle
Melvyn's parts list online. Mine is a mixed-up Mog, the changeover month
from short-door to long-door 4/4 was June 1997, Uncle Melvyn's catalogue
confirms that in the parts lists for 4/4s. Mine is a May 1997 4/4 but as I
have discovered before it has some components from the post-May cars and I
think the tank is one of them as I have the fuel pump in the tank and not
external. So, pre June the Melvyn price for a filler pipe is about £8.00 and
post-May it is about £80.00!

Yes Owen, it is the stubby one with a long thinner pipe branching off it;
looks like it might be tight to fit between tank and filler.

I've requested images from Uncle Melvyn's site for both the parts to check
which one it is.

Hey ho, taking that big metal plate off that sits behind the spare wheel has
given me an opportunity to clean up under there and tie down a few pipes
that were flapping around quite horribly.

Cheers,
Lawrence
