At least one is still here. From the NE corner, look North (towards NWR HQ). Follow the mud along the shore of Long Meadow Lake to the point where it curves to the right (0.5 miles away?). The avocet is feeding in the water near the far shoreline.
Paul Minneapolis PS - Doug Kieser reports 192 Horned Grebes, several red-necked and an Eared Grebe in Lake Nokomis today.
