The Yellow-breasted Chat reported yesterday (by Madeleine Linck) at Baker's
Park Reserve (Orono, Hennepin County) was easily relocated today at 12:20pm. He
was heard and seen in the same location: east of the bike trail at the first
point where you can see CR 19 running parallel to the trail. He was singing
away in the low shrubs that hugs a marsh, then flew south, where I could hear
him through the deciduous woods while leaving. Please note that, from the
parking lot, it is about a mile-long walk. If you need directions, please
e-mail.
Other interesting birds seen/heard:
-Blue-winged Warblers (1-2, singing on territory?)
-Olive-sided Flycatcher (1 near the chat)
-Black-billed Cuckoo (briefly heard south of the chat site)
Not a bad way to end the last day of school...
