Greetings all, On Tuesday I had a female Am. Goldfinch gathering fur and taking it away in the same direction... repeatedly. I have had goldfinches gather fur or fibers this early in the season before but, almost immediately, she has always opened her beak and released it to the wind. This time she looked as diligent in her efforts as the chickadees do when they gather fur for their nests. Actually, she ended up taking away a LOT of fur... way more than chickadees do.
