Indeed. Yes - this is a nifty and unusual use of shift. I don't recall shift altering the effect of any such buttons. I think both these are very cryptic - otherwise, I would have found them. Its odd to find no mention of plain text vs. HTML compose format in the main Preferences > Mail & Newsgroups. Please see Bug 88986 and these other bugs for my pleas to Mozilla developers to keep things simple, to ensure that messages are never altered in any way by default, and that plain text be the default method of composing mail messages: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88986 (Use "> " instead of those rotten vertical bars for quotes.) http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86607 (User option and default settings for "format=flowed".) http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71110 (User selectable width for reflowing format=flowed messages.) - Robin http://www.firstpr.com.au http://fondlyandfirmly.com
