Due to a prior commitment, I was unable to attend the Minneapolis Arts
Commission celebration tonight. As a former Arts Commissioner I would like
to congratulate the staff and members of the Commission who continually work
with our communities and artists to bring a more artistic and cultural flair
to our city. I think it is also important to recognize our volunteers and
elected leaders who helped bring this Commission to fruition.
I was privileged to be involved in many of the Gateways projects and
instrumental in moving the Commission towards a more fiscally responsible
process. And somewhat helpful in the early discussions of an Office of
Cultural Affairs. Unfortunately, because of illness I had to leave my term
early and was unable to fully realize some of those goals. I miss working
with that community and wish them all well on their anniversary.
