Fred Phelps and his son, Fred Jr have a long time association with the
Democratic Party in Kansas. (To be fair to the party, I'm not sure how
much the party likes him). He also was at a fundraiser for Gore during
Gore's 88 campaign. During the 2000 presidential campaign, Phelps had
photographs of him with the Gores on his site. He or his son has run for
Attorney General in Kansas under the Democrat label. I think he was
knocked out in the primary.
Last time he came to Minneapolis, I think he just demonstrated at MCC.
Now, it seems that there are more congregations here in our lovely city
that draw his attention.
