At the Minneapolis NAACP branch meeting on June 28 the membership approved a motion by Evelyn Eubanks to back out of the deal to set up Parent Information Centers. The motion cited a conflict of interest due to the NAACP's obligation to oversee the implementation of the agreement to settle the NAACP's educational lawsuit against the state. The deal to set up Parent Information Centers gave the NAACP a role in providing services for the State Department of Education which the settlement agreement requires the state to provide. A ruling from the chair, Albert Gallmon, that the motion was out of order was overridden by a two-thirds supermajority.
