The short-cuts are part of the Menu bar and if that is disabled (hidden)
then they don't work. I am not aware of a way around that - sorry.

Title:
Key short-cuts are not working if the main menu is hidden

Status in Mudlet:
  Invalid

Bug description:
You can use extra short-cuts if you will enable menu in Settings >
General > Show menu bar (For example you can press Alt+E for Script
  Editor, Alt+R for Reconnect, ...).

Unfortunately those short-cuts are not working if the menu is hidden.
Would if be possible to allow short-cuts with main toolbar as well?

This is only wish, because there is simple workaround - have menu bar visible
all the time.
  Thanks

Tested on Ubuntu 10.04, Mudlet 1.1.1
