I got a mail from Broadcom today:

From: "Michael (Hongbin) Ji" <m...@broadcom.com>
Subject: our device's support of CCID driver

" Hi, Ludovic:

Our smart card reader BCM5880 is listed as unsupported at your website:
http://pcsclite.alioth.debian.org/unsupported.html

Recently we released a new firmware which I believe will fix this
issue. You can download this new firmware A15 from Dell support
website at:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&cs=555&l=en&s=biz&releaseid=R254263&SystemID=LAT_E6400&servicetag=&os=WLH&osl=en&deviceid=21505&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=5&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=0&libid=60&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&fileid=372654

After it is unzipped, you can double click "ushupgrade.exe" to upgrade
the firmware, reboot the system and re-do your test.

Please let let me know your result. It should pass. If it does, please
modify your website to reflect this.

Thanks,
+ Michael Ji, Ph.D.

Maybe that is helpful to some users.
If the reader is then usable please tell me.

Bye
