Asalaam alaikum wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu, As you know Iqra! Newspaper has recently re-launched the newspaper in the Houston area. On February 23rd we celebrated the opening of our new office (10101 Harwin Suite 345) by having an "Open House." Our theme was for "A Survival Story." Our guest were able to see an extensive collection of newspaper clippings before and after Hurricane Katrina. We also had a portfolio of all of our newspaper and special articles, the original sketches of the masthead of the newspaper. The food was great, from Turkish tea to home made Balaklava. Many of our close friends were out of town during that week end and were not able to attend. The event was very casual and last minute.
We are one of the few Muslim produced newspapers especially formulated for dawah in North America. Our motto states: "*We strive to help the world gain a better understanding of Muslims, and Islam and help Muslims better understand the world." * We put the call out last week for sponsorships to cover high shipping cost and to spead the newspaper in other regions. Alhamdullilah we have received good responses. This is how it works, we asked brothers and sisters to sponsor 100 newspaper by donating $25 to handle most of the shipping cost. (North America price only) Some opted to donate the shipping charges along to take care of expenses locally. Our sponsors agreed to distribute the newspaper at key locations in their cities. They also agreed that all of the papers would be distributed for free in a timely manner. We currently heard from Toronto, a sister in Saudi Arabia, Washington, Los Angeles, Dallas…..We are truly blessed for the support we have received. A brother (who had been serious ill) today volunteered to distribute papers in the North part of Houston. Iqra Newspaper still needs to get more newspapers out, and we need more sponsors. Our overhead cost have been especially high since we opened our new office, and need your support, 22 more sponsors are needed for this month. Sister Amatullah will be taking some newspapers with her to India in a week.
