Enter the following line in your .my.conf file under the [client] group:

pager=/usr/bin/less
Execute the mysqldump command
See the following output from mysqldump
mysqldump: unrecognized option `--pager=/usr/bin/less'

Comment out the pager line in .my.conf when using mysqldump
