I just found out today that Matt Zimmerman is no longer able to maintain the Debain packages for MythTV due to time constraints and since he is no longer using mythtv. Although I don’t have a lot of time, I’d hate to see the packages just die and would be willing to help maintain the packages. My question to the list is this: Are there other people using Debian who have experience or a desire to pick up the packages? I would like to see them become part of the mainstream Debian distro, but I think some of the underlying components prevent it. I would also need some support from those who are familiar with the code in case we run into trouble. Finally, I need to know if there is any desire from the main programmers if they do not want myth packaged for Debian (not sure why, but I will ask anyway). I have never maintained a Debain package before, so if anyone happens to know of real good references, please e-mail me off list. I was hoping to start with a smaller project, but the best way to learn is to jump in with both feet right?

Thanks,

Robert LeBlanc
