Indirectly, yes. There's no limit to the number of hosts but there is a limit to the number of characters per line of config file that nagios will read in. The default, MAX_XODTEMPLATE_INPUT_BUFFER in xdata/xodtemplate.h, is 8196 characters under nagios-1. I've had success in the past increasing that to 65535 and have had some _very_ long hostgroup members lines.
