Ontario's special investigation unit is probing the death of a Grassy Narrows woman
who died at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg after she was found unconscious in a
police cell. MARY ELIZA KEEWATIN, 57, was found unconscious in the Kenora police cell
on Monday.

She was transported to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital and later transferred
to HSC where she died. "The autopsy is still being conducted," said Gail Scala, a
spokeswoman with the SIU. "There's a lot of preliminary information we won't be able
to officially confirm right this minute." The SIU is a civilian body that investigates
all injuries and deaths involving police in the province.
