SPEAKING IN TONGUES
Pat Meysenburg

Speaking with forked tongue has been vogue since Europeans arrived in 1492 to
take the Indians' land.

Our governor perpetuates what should have ended with the defeat of Custer at
Little Big Horn.

In a state actively promoting Cash 4 Life, Pick 5, Quick Pick and numerous
scratch and pickle tickets, he asserts gambling is illegal in a tiny Indian
casino, no larger than a 7-Eleven on their "own" land.

Meanwhile he defends the sale of liquor in Nebraska, directly across from a
South Dakota reservation, knowing the awful alcohol problem inherited from
the white man.

Farmers with the productive land are experiencing the forked tongue treatment
from their government. They are going broke by the thousand as they produce
the only essential this county needs -- food! When enough of them are forced
from the land and corporate giants control the food supply, most of us will
find ourselves in the position of our Native Americans.
