Mobile homes and trailers will be brought to Siksika Nation for flood victims
to stay in while cleanup is ongoing.

Wesley Water Chief, a spokesman for the Nation, said mobile homes not used
during the Slave Lake wildfire disaster as well as ATCO trailers will be
brought to Siksika, presumably within the next few weeks, to establish a
temporary community while flood victims restore their homes.

"It gives them a place to call home so they can have some privacy," said Water
Chief.

About 170 homes in six communities on Siksika, 100 km east of Calgary, were
impacted by heavy floods that struck parts of southern Alberta beginning June
20.

Some evacuees have been camping on higher ground overlooking their properties
while others are staying with relatives or in hotels.

The Deerfoot Sportsplex has been turned into a reception centre where displaced
residents can sleep, shower, eat and get information.

Water Chief said the outpouring of material donations has been overwhelming -
so much so that storage space is running low - and what is most needed now is
monetary donations to help get evacuees "back on their feet."

On Wednesday, eligible evacuees were able to pick up their provincial emergency
funding - pre-loaded debit cards worth $1,250 per adult and $500 per child - at
the Siksika Resource Developments Ltd. Building.

The Siksika Nation Disaster Relief Fund is set up through the BMO Bank of
Montreal at P.O. Box 1429, Siksika, Alberta, T0J 3W0.
