Language: English Location: WdW Auditorium 10:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Jürgen Brüning’s The Porn Ensemble presents The Porn Dialogue with Jürgen Anger, Tatiana Cerezita, Alexander Gonzales, Florian Manns and Kiki L’Objective. The Porn Dialogue is an exploration of today’s tendencies to embrace the human body as a field of interest by researchers, film-makers, artists and theorists. The naked human body has been the subject of interrogation of all beliefs since we first existed. Nowadays, we have to keep in mind all these pre-existing judgements when we carry out such an exploration, as all judgments reflect and represent a certain point of view. Can we still explore and discover the human body without being judgemental? An ensemble of five experts will take you on a ride into your inner desires and their reflections. Don't expect a solution. We live in a world of cruelty that holds only banal answers. Language: English Location: WdW Auditorium Numbers are limited and doors will be closed at 10:15 p.m. Contains explicit material. Entry restricted to over 18s only. 11:30 p.m. Party: DJ Fritz Ostermeyer plays Porn Tunes Location: De Unie, Mauritsweg 25, Rotterdam. SATURDAY 8 SEPTEMBER 7:00 p.m.– 8:00 p.m. Porn: reject, embrace, or something else? lecture by Willem van Batenburg (film producer, Utrecht) Reading from his book It will all come up again, van Batenburg reveals the fascinations and experiences of a naïve film-maker who discovers the world of sex, erotica and pornography during the sexual revolution, and who makes it his own profession. A lecture with images and film excerpts from Batenburg’s own work, as the first porn producer in the Netherlands. Language: Dutch Location: WdW Auditorium 9:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Jürgen Brüning’s The Porn Ensemble presents The Porn Dialogue (see text above) Language: English Location: WdW Auditorium THURSDAY 13 SEPTEMBER 7:30 p.m.– 8:30 p.m. Matias Faldbakken (artist/author) and Michael Turner (author) in dialogue. In the informal setting of a local bar, two distinguished writers have an open conversation about pornography and literature. Novelist Michael Turner (Vancouver) is author of the 1999 bestseller The Pornographer’s Poem, for which he was awarded the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize. Artist and writer Matias Faldbakken (Oslo) has published two novels, The Cocka Hola Company and Macht und Rebel, the first two parts of a yet-unfinished Misanthropy Trilogy. His work was presented in the Nordic Pavilion of the 2005 Venice Biennale. Location: De Schouw, Witte de Withstraat 80, Rotterdam Language: English THURSDAY 20 SEPTEMBER 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Screaming Bodies, Silent Witnesses, lecture by Francesco Bernadelli (freelance curator, Turin and Amsterdam) The contemporary topic of "Sexual Culture(s)" (ie. variations in habits, practices, forms and meanings related to specific socio-economic contexts) is understood as how people signify and make sense of the complex and contradictory phenomena involved with pornography, particularly in regard to the rapid growth and mainstreaming of the sex industries, now a globalized, networked model of labor. Professional sex workers are usually a silent presence within the literature on sex related work. How can one trace back and find ways of understanding these sex workers' life-trajectories? Updated information and data are essential in the attempt to get closer – on one side – to the increasingly intermingled relations between pornography, drugs, trafficking and, ultimately, prostitution, and – on the other side – to the current body-fixation/fetishization and parallel marketing processes. Language: English Location: WdW Library THURSDAY 27 SEPTEMBER 7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. POST PORN POWER, lecture by Marie-Hélène Bourcier (queer activist, sociologist and Maître de conférences at Lille University III) Re-examining works by artists such as Annie Sprinkle, Kara Walker, Nicole Eisenman and less known pansexual or queer young porn directors (Sondra Goodwin, Edith Edith and Sir Video), Bourcier’s lecture aims to demonstrate how the power of porn (namely its performative norms on bodies and practices) can be redirected, re-signified, twisted in an exciting and empowering way by former "porn victims", for example lesbians, black women, or transgender freaks. Immersion, decontextualization, denaturalization with mainstream porn will be presented as empowering technologies of porn, which implies being very close to porn and competing with a productive censorship that is characteristic of modern and post modern pornographic reason.
