I heard for the first time last night that there have been big demonstrations in France against the passage of the new labor law which will make it possible for people under 26 years of age to be fired without reason.
This would seem to give encouragement to employers to terminate older workers as well as it will encourage harsh treatment toward younger workers. The government ending the occupation of the Sorbonne seems to be a provocation of sorts to the growing movementing against the new labor law. It would be good to know more about what is happening if others on nettime have been following these events. cheers ronda # distributed via <nettime>: no commercial use without permission # <nettime> is a moderated mailing list for net criticism, # collaborative text filtering and cultural politics of the nets # more info: [EMAIL PROTECTED] and "info nettime-l" in the msg body # archive: http://www.nettime.org contact: nettime@bbs.thing.net
