Charges over attack on war criminal Radislav Krstic

Krstic is serving a 35-year sentence at the prison

Three prisoners have been charged with the attempted murder of a Serbian war
criminal inside a British prison.

Radislav Krstic, 62, a former general in the Bosnian Serb Army, was attacked in
Wakefield Prison in West Yorkshire.

Indrit Krasniqi, 23, Iliyas Khalid, 24, and Quam Ogumbiyi, 29, are charged with
attempted murder and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Mr Krasniqi and Mr Khalid pleaded not guilty at Leeds Crown Court on Monday. Mr
Ogumbiyi has not yet entered a plea.

The men are expected to go on trial early next year.

Krstic was the first person to be convicted of genocide over the 1995
Srebrenica massacre, in which more than 7,000 people were murdered in five days.

He was sentenced to 35 years in jail and transferred to the UK to serve his
sentence at Wakefield Prison.

He was attacked on 7 May.
